Since all your personal data is stored locally, it will be lost if you uninstall the app or reset your phone. Because the data is offline and not synced to any servers, we cannot recover your data if you lose your phone or delete the app without a backup. Make sure to use the "Backup & Restore" feature under Profile Settings to save a copy of your data.
Free-tier users see ads powered by Google AdMob. If you prefer a completely tracking-free experience, upgrade to Dobiko Task Pro โ ads are fully removed and AdMob is disabled.
Learn how to block and limit addictive apps
App Guard is an advanced digital containment and focus-enforcement system designed to break the subconscious feedback loops that lead to smartphone addiction. When we open apps like social media, our brain receives a dopamine micro-spike. Over time, this leads to unconscious pick-up habits. App Guard intervenes at the system level by tracking active screen usage down to the second. When a configured daily quota is met, it throws a persistent blocker overlay over the screen. This breaks the habit loop and prompts you to return to real-world tasks.
Start with realistic limits (e.g., 45 minutes instead of 10 minutes) and gradually reduce them week-over-week. This progressive adaptation is far more sustainable than trying to go cold turkey, which often leads to relapse.
Strict Mode is a powerful feature with absolute enforcement. Once enabled and locked, the app's internal database prevents modification, override, or deletion of the limit. Not even uninstalling the app is easy if you have strict locking enabled. Only activate Strict Mode if you are genuinely committed to locking out distractions.
Understand Usage, Overlay & Accessibility permissions
Android uses strict sandboxing to protect user security, meaning apps cannot interact with or block other apps by default. To make real-time app blocking possible, Dobiko Task requires three specialized, system-level permissions. These permissions allow the app to work seamlessly in the background. Because privacy is a core value of Dobiko Task, all detection and blocking algorithms run locally on your device. We do not track, collect, log, or upload any of your app usage history, visited pages, or keystrokes. Your data is 100% private.
Accessibility Service operates 100% locally on your phone. If you notice that App Guard is not blocking apps instantly, open Android settings and ensure the Accessibility Service is still turned "On" for Dobiko Task. Sometimes, system battery optimization settings temporarily disable it.
Without these permissions, Android will prevent Dobiko Task from blocking foreground apps. If you disable them in system settings, App Guard will prompt you to re-enable them to continue tracking. Additionally, configure battery settings to "Unrestricted" to prevent OS termination.
Create habits, log completions, and build streaks
Life Tracker is a complete routine-building engine integrated into your daily flow. Habit formation relies on the "Cue-Craving-Response-Reward" loop. Life Tracker helps you configure clean "cues" via system notifications and provides a satisfying visual "reward" in the form of interactive checkmarks and streak trackers. By checking off habits daily, you build a visual record of consistency. Over time, this record creates psychological resistance against skipping days, helping you turn abstract routines into second-nature behaviors.
Implement "Habit Stacking" by anchoring new habits to existing ones (e.g., "After I brew my morning coffee [existing habit], I will write in my journal for 5 minutes [new habit]"). Keep your initial habit goals small so they are easy to complete even on low-energy days.

Reduce eye strain with custom dimming overlays
Standard phone screens are designed to be viewable in daylight, meaning their minimum brightness is often too bright for dark rooms. Additionally, screens emit high concentrations of blue light. Blue light stimulates photophobic cells in the retina, signaling the brain to suppress melatonin (the hormone responsible for sleep regulation). This disrupts your circadian rhythm and leads to insomnia. The Screen Dimmer solves this by applying a translucent warm color overlay to filter out blue light and lower the screen brightness below the system minimum.
Using a warm amber tint at night helps limit blue light exposure, signals to your body that it is time to sleep by preventing blue-light suppression of melatonin, and relaxes your eyes.
The dimmer requires overlay permission to cover the screen. Avoid setting the opacity to 100% in a dark room, as it makes the screen completely black and makes it extremely difficult to see the control controls to turn it off.
Write, manage, and secure your ideas locally
The Text Notes tool is a built-in notepad designed to serve as a distraction-free repository for your ideas. Often during focus sessions, distracting thoughts or sudden ideas pop up. Trying to ignore them takes mental energy, while opening another app to write them down can lead to distraction. The Notes tool solves this by providing a clean, offline space to quickly write down ideas and return to work. It keeps your creative drafts, journal entries, and task lists safe and accessible.
Use notes to write down focus journals or record distracting thoughts that pop up during focus sessions. Writing them down lets your brain let go of them, letting you return to work.
All notes are stored 100% locally on your device's private storage. If you clear app data, reset your phone, or uninstall Dobiko Task, your notes will be lost permanently. Be sure to export backups regularly!
Configure a PIN, set a security question, and manage delays
App Lock is a local security system that prevents unauthorized access to your Dobiko Task data, including your habits, goals, notes, and logs. When enabled, Dobiko Task will lock itself after a configurable delay when you leave the app, requiring your PIN to reopen. Since all data is stored offline on your device, the App Lock operates completely locally. To prevent you from being locked out if you forget your PIN, Dobiko Task allows you to set up a custom Security Question and answer.
Keep your security answer simple and memorable (e.g., lowercase letters, a single word). If you are worried about forgetting it, write it down in a secure password manager.
If you forget both your PIN and the answer to your security question, there is no way to recover your data. To access the app, you will have to select "Reset & Wipe All Data" on the lock screen, which permanently erases all your settings, habits, and notes to protect your privacy.
Export your app data as a file and restore it on any device
Dobiko Task stores all your information completely offline on your device to protect your privacy. This means there is no automatic cloud syncing. To prevent data loss when switching phones or resetting your device, Dobiko Task includes a local Backup & Restore system. Exporting packages all your settings, habits, goals, notes, and profile pictures into a single secure '.dobikotask' file. You can then copy this file to another device and import it to restore your exact progress.
Set a recurring reminder (e.g. monthly) to export a new backup file. Saving your backup file on a secure cloud storage service ensures you can recover your data even if you lose or damage your physical phone.
Free Tier Import Limits: If you are a Free tier user and import a backup containing more than the free limits (e.g. a backup exported from a Premium user with unlimited habits/goals), Dobiko Task will automatically truncate the data to the basic limits of 4 habits and 2 goals. The extra items are skipped during the import, and a message will notify you of the skipped items.
